This year’s Women’s Retreat will focus on how a community based upon living as Christ’s followers can be a blessing. So many of us find ourselves stretched so thin and giving to so many. The beloved community can be the safe place to belong, renew, and be strengthened to return to the ministries of everyday life.  Join some wonderful women to learn about and experience this beloved community together.

Gayle Murphy has a long history with South Church. Gayle and her husband, Bob, joined the church in 1981 and their three sons attended Sunday School, Youth Group, and were the three wise men for one Christmas Eve pageant (they were referred to as the wise guys). Gaylebecame the part-time coordinator of volunteers in 1984, leading to seminary, and then ordination as South Church’s Minister of Volunteers in 1999. Gayle was called to be the minister of the Northwood Congregational Church, UCC where she served for almost twelve years. Currently, Gayle is starting a ministry for people who don’t like to go to church, using mission/service as a bridge to involvement. Bob and Gayle are enjoying the empty nest almost as much as they loved having an active family. They have two grandsons and love bicycling which has taken them on trips to Europe, Canada, and several places in the US.
